Pike, James A. (James Albert), 1913-1969.

Papers of the American clergyman, lawyer, Episcopal bishop, who wrote and spoke on the church and social problems, Christian and legal ethics, pastoral psychology, psychical research, and spiritualism. Collection includes correspondence (family letters, personal, and business correspondence); notebooks; professional records relating to Pike's legal career and ecclesiastical appointments as Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Fifth Bishop of California, among others; writings (manuscript and/or typescript articles and essays, book reviews, books, interviews, sermons, and speeches); and memorabilia (awards, financial and legal records, photographs, and scrapbooks).

Safire, William, 1929-2009.

Spanning 1941 to 2009, the William Safire Papers comprises research files, notes, incoming correspondence and book manuscripts of the American author and journalist (1929-2009). Reflecting his interest in both politics and lexicography, the collection documents Safire's dual career as political and language columnist for the New York Times and chairman of the Dana Foundation.

Spock, Benjamin, 1903-1998.

Papers of the American pediatrician, author, and peace activist and his wife Mary Morgan. Collection includes extensive correspondence and writings by both Morgan and Spock, Dr. Spock's medical reference files, memorabilia; cartoons, caricatures, articles by and about Spock, clippings, and photographs relating to his political activities (1951- 1998), including material about the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy and his campaign for President as the nominee of the People's Party in 1972; legal files including his estate documents and various court cases in which Morgan and Spock were involved. In addition, there are records of the DrSpock.com website and the editions of Baby and Child Care published after Dr. Spock's death (1998).

Weston, Harold, 1894-1972.

Papers of the American painter, humanitarian. The collection includes artwork reproductions, correspondence subject files, memorabilia and writings, much of which deal with Weston's work in various organizations, including the Adirondack Trail Improvement Society, the American Federation of Arts, the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors, Food for Freedom, the International Association of the Plastic Arts of Plastic Arts, the National Council on the Arts and Government and the United Nations. The collection provides a detailed look at the lobbying efforts to create the National Endowment for the Arts as well as development of post-World War Two international cooperation in the arts.
